EMAIL MAILINGS

Longer Messages, and Answers Coming Back

Write once and let placeholders personalise it for everyone. Attach an install link for the card each person does not have yet. And when someone replies, their answer lands in your Inbox against their record.

Try it yourself

One Message, Written Once, Different for Everyone

This is the compose screen. Drop in a placeholder and pick a card, then step through your recipients — the same email arrives personalised, and carries an install link for the card each person does not have yet.

A second card, on the house

Hi there,

You are 6 stamps into your coffee card — thank you for that.

We have a second card you have not picked up yet. It gives you money back on everything from the deli counter.

Reply to this email and it comes straight to us.

Every reply lands in your Inbox, attached to that customer’s record.

How it works

The Only Channel Where They Can Answer Back

Push is free but one-way. SMS is fast but one-way. Email is where a customer can actually reply to you — and where their answer arrives somewhere you will see it.

🔌1

Connect an email sender

Mailgun, Resend, or your own SMTP. This is a one-time setup, and until it is done the mailing section will not send anything.

🧩2

Write once, personalise automatically

Placeholders drop each person’s own name, balance, and card details into the text. One draft, and nobody receives something that reads like a bulk send.

📤3

Send to everyone, or one segment

Your whole customer list or a single group. Send it now or schedule a date and time, then check a delivery status for each recipient afterwards.

📥4

Replies come back to you

When someone answers, it appears in the Inbox section against their customer record — with their visits and spend right there beside it.

Why email at all

Six Things a Push Notification Cannot Do

Push is free and should carry most of your messages. These are the six reasons to open an email instead.

📏

Say more than a line

A push is two sentences at most

A new menu, a change of opening hours, the story behind a supplier. Anything that needs a paragraph belongs in an email, because a push will simply be truncated.

🖼️

Show it, not just say it

Photos, layout, your own colours

Food, hair, interiors, products — some things only sell in pictures. Email is the one channel here that carries them.

🔗

More than one link

Book, browse, read, reply

Give people several ways to act instead of one. And because each link can be tracked, you learn which one people actually wanted.

🎟️

Hand them a second card

A personalised install link

Pick a card template and each email carries an install link for exactly that card. Perfect for offering your cashback card to everyone who only has the stamp card.

💬

Invite an actual answer

“Tell us what to keep on the menu”

The one thing no other channel here can do. Ask a real question and read the replies — it is the cheapest customer research you will ever run.

📦

Reach people without a card

The list you had before all this

Push only reaches cardholders. Email reaches anyone whose address you hold — ideally to invite them onto a card, after which push is free forever.

Two kinds of email

Automatic Emails and the Ones You Write

They behave very differently, and the difference decides what you need to set up.

  Automatic emails Your campaigns
What they areVerification codes, card recoveryNewsletters, offers, win-backs
Setup neededNone — already workingAn email sender, connected once
Who pays for themNobody, they are includedYour provider, at their rates
Can you design them?Fixed layoutEntirely yours
Can customers reply? Not meaningfullyYes, into your Inbox
The one thing to sort out before you plan a campaign: sending your own emails needs an email sender connected to your account — Mailgun, Resend, or SMTP. Automatic emails to your customers already work without it, but the mailing section will not send until a sender is in place. It takes a few minutes once, and then it never needs touching again.
Worth knowing

Settings Most People Never Find

Everything here is already in the mailing section. Any one of them makes the difference between a newsletter and a campaign.

👤

Placeholders

Drop a customer’s own name, balance, or card details straight into the text. One draft, and every copy reads as though it was written for the person holding it.

💳

Personalised card install links

Choose a card template and the email carries an install link for it. The single best use of email here: cross-promoting your second loyalty programme to people who only joined the first.

🧮

Send to a segment

All your customers, or one group. Champions, Sleeping, At risk — the segments build themselves from behaviour, so the right list is already waiting.

Schedule it

Write on Sunday evening, send on Tuesday morning. Pick the date and time and leave it — nothing needs you to be at a screen when it goes.

📋

Delivery status per recipient

Open a mailing afterwards and see who received it, name by name. Bounces show up here, which is how you keep a list clean.

🤖

Send from an automation

Emails can also fire from a workflow rather than by hand — a welcome on day one, a nudge at day fourteen. Built once, then left running.

Before your first send

Four Mistakes That Cost You a List

An email list takes years to build and one bad campaign to ruin.

Inviting replies nobody reads

The Inbox is the whole point of email here, and it is worthless if it is never opened. Decide who checks it and how often before you write “just reply to this email”. Five minutes each morning is enough.

Emailing addresses you were never given

Importing a list you bought, scraped, or collected for something else is how a sending domain gets blocked — not just for that campaign, but for every email you send afterwards, including the automatic ones. Only email people who handed you their address knowingly.

Sending the same thing to everyone

A win-back to someone who came in yesterday reads as carelessness. Segments cost nothing and take two minutes, and the difference in response between a targeted send and a blanket one is not small.

Ignoring bounces

Dead addresses pile up quietly and drag your delivery rate down with them. The per-recipient status list tells you which ones failed — clear them out every few campaigns and your good emails keep landing.

Start With Free Push, Add Email When You Have Something to Say

Push notifications work from your first installed card and cost nothing, forever. Connect an email sender when you want longer messages, pictures, or answers coming back.
