STAMP CARDS

For Businesses People Visit Often

Buy nine, get the tenth free — the mechanic every customer already understands, living in the wallet they already carry. No app to download, no card to lose, and for the first time you can see who is collecting.

How it works

The Paper Punch Card, Without the Paper

Same idea your customers already understand. The difference is that this one never gets lost in a wallet, and it tells you who is collecting.

📱1

They scan once

A QR code on your counter, receipt, or table tent. The card saves straight into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet — no app store, no password to remember.

2

Your team adds a stamp

Any phone, any browser. Open the Scanner App, scan their card, tap once. Under five seconds, and it works whether you have a POS or not.

🔔3

The card updates itself

They see the new stamp on their lock screen without opening anything. That little notification is the whole point — it puts your shop back in their head.

🎁4

They come back to claim it

When the card fills up, the reward appears. Your team scans, redeems, and the card starts again — with the customer now in your CRM.

Where it works best

Built for Businesses People Visit Often

Stamp cards reward frequency, not spend. If a customer could reasonably visit you six times in three months, this is your card type.

Coffee shops & cafés

Buy 9 coffees, get the 10th free

The classic, and still the best fit. Daily habit, low ticket, and a reward that costs you the price of a cup but buys you a month of mornings.

🥐

Bakeries & dessert shops

6 visits, one box of pastries

Weekend traffic is easy; weekday traffic is the problem. A card gives people a reason to stop by on a Tuesday instead of waiting for Sunday.

🚗

Car washes & detailing

5 washes, the 6th on us

Nothing stops a customer trying the cheaper place down the road except an unfinished card. Half-full cards are switching costs.

💇

Barbershops & nail salons

8 cuts, one free

Visits are already on a rhythm — every three or four weeks. A card turns that rhythm into a countdown they can see.

🥪

Juice bars & quick lunch

10 lunches, one free

You are competing with four other places on the same street for the same 45 minutes. The card is the tiebreaker.

👕

Laundry & dry cleaning

7 drop-offs, one free service

A service nobody thinks about until they need it. A card in the wallet makes you the one they remember instead of whoever is nearest.

Earning rules

Three Ways to Give a Stamp

Pick the one that matches how people actually buy from you. You can change it later, unlike the stamp count.

Most common

Per visit

One stamp every time they come in, whatever they spend. Simplest to explain, simplest for staff, and the fairest when your prices are similar across the menu.

Best for cafés, barbers, car washes.

Per amount spent

One stamp per amount you choose — spend $30 with a $10 rule and three stamps land at once. Rewards your bigger customers instead of treating every visit the same.

Best when tickets vary a lot: restaurants, retail, salons with mixed services.

Manual, at your discretion

Your team decides when a stamp is earned — a specific product, a promotion, a slow Tuesday. Full control, but it depends on staff applying it consistently.

Best for promotions and testing before you commit to a rule.

One thing worth knowing up front: the system does not support conditional rules like “one stamp only if they spend over $20” or “a stamp every third visit.” If you need something like that, it has to be applied by your team by hand.

Getting the maths right

How Many Stamps Should a Card Have?

The single decision that makes or breaks a stamp card — and the one you cannot undo later.

If your customer visits… Aim for So they finish in
Most days8–10 stamps2–3 weeks
Once or twice a week6–8 stamps4–8 weeks
Every two to four weeks5–6 stamps3–5 months
Once a month or less4–5 stamps4–6 months

The rule behind the table: a card should be finishable in roughly two to three months. Longer than that and people forget it exists. Shorter than about four stamps and you are giving away margin for behaviour they would have repeated anyway.

Worth knowing

Settings Most People Never Find

All of these are in the card builder. Any one of them can lift a program that is already running.

🎉

Welcome stamps

Start the card at one or two stamps instead of zero. A card that already has progress feels started — and started things get finished. Costs you nothing.

🎂

Birthday stamps

Drop extra stamps onto a card on the customer’s birthday. They get a push telling them, which is a reason to visit disguised as a gift.

Happy hours

Award double stamps during your quiet window. The cheapest way to move traffic out of your queue and into your empty hours.

🚩

Multiple rewards on one card

Set milestones like 3, 6, and 9 instead of one prize at the end. Small win early keeps people going; the big one keeps them coming.

🕑

Stamp expiry

Stamps can expire individually after a set time. Use it to keep cards moving — but sparingly, because nothing sours a customer like losing progress they earned.

🔒

Daily limits

Cap how many stamps one person can earn per day. Stops someone buying four coffees in one go and walking out with a full card.

Before you launch

Four Mistakes That Cost Real Money

We would rather you read these now than learn them in month two.

Changing the stamp count after launch

You cannot. Once customers have installed the card, their wallet has saved the original number — change it and existing holders keep seeing the old target while new ones see the new one. Decide this before you activate, and test with a handful of people first.

Making the reward too big

A free coffee after ten is sustainable. A free meal after five is a discount you cannot afford, dressed up as loyalty. Work out the cost of the reward against the margin on the visits it takes to earn it — before you print anything.

Not telling your staff why it matters

A card nobody offers is a card nobody has. The single biggest predictor of whether a program works is whether the person at the till says “have you got our card?” every time. Make it part of the greeting, not an afterthought.

Launching with nothing to say afterwards

The card gets them in once. Push notifications bring them back. If you never send anything, you have digitised a punch card and stopped there — which is a fraction of what you paid for.
