Bring Your Regulars Back More Often

Your regulars already like you. The gap is between visits — and a well-timed nudge closes it. Here is what to send, and when.

Is Frequency Really Your Problem?

Two numbers from last month and the rhythm your business should have. Your Dashboard shows total visits and customers for any period.

A rough guide from your own numbers, not an industry benchmark. It counts everyone who visited, so a lot of one-time visitors will pull the average down.

Where the Extra Visits Come From

Zakki buys coffee about three times a month. Switch on each lever and see when its nudge lands — and the visit it is aiming for.

Why regulars come less often

Four Gaps Between Visits

Regulars rarely stop liking you. Something in the gap between visits just stops pulling them back — and each gap has a setting.

People speed up as a reward gets closer, and drift when it looks distant. Fifteen stamps for one coffee is a card nobody hurries to fill.

The fix: keep the first reward within six to ten visits, and send a push when they are one away — Workflow Builder can trigger on the stamp or points count.

How stamp cards work →

A regular who comes every ten days would happily come every seven. They just need a reason on day six, not day twenty.

The fix: the next-visit reminder, timed from their last stamp, set a little shorter than their usual gap.

How push notifications work →

Saturday mornings, always. That habit is good — but Tuesday afternoon is empty, and nobody has given them a reason to try it.

The fix: one push a month to your regulars before your slowest day. Happy hours add extra stamps or points — or a bigger discount on a discount card — inside the window you set.

Filling quiet hours →

They buy from you on weekdays and from the chain near home at weekends. Nothing is wrong — you just are not the default yet.

The fix: a prepaid multipass for your most regular regulars. Visits already paid for are visits that come to you.

Three Numbers on Your Dashboard

Compare each one with the previous period — the Dashboard shows the change next to every number.

Engagement rate Visits in the period ÷ all your customers × 100

The closest thing to “how often do people come”. If it rises while your customer count holds, frequency is going up.

Repeat visits Visits from customers who have been before

Frequency lives here. New customers add to total visits; repeat visits tell you regulars are coming more often.

Total visits Every visit in the period

Divide it by the customers who visited and you have visits per customer — the number from the check at the top of this page.

What Owners Ask Us

Timing matters far more than volume. The reminder is timed from each customer’s last stamp, the “one away” push only fires when they are genuinely close, and the slow-day push is once a month. On Android, Google Wallet shows no more than three notifications per card per day anyway.
Yes: happy hours add extra stamps or points — or a bigger discount on a discount card — inside the window you choose. Pair them with a push to your regulars before the quiet day. The off-peak page goes deeper into both.
If you would rather not decide who to nudge and when, yes. It is on the Business plan, picks the timing per customer, and holds back a control group so you can see whether the messaged customers really visit more.
Frequency moves faster than retention, because these are people who already come. Compare engagement rate and repeat visits month on month, and give it at least two full months before you judge it.
Then frequency is not your first problem — getting a second visit is. Start with the retention page, and come back here once you have regulars to bring in more often.
