Grow the Order, Not Just the Visit Count

A card that pays the same for a coffee as for a full lunch gives nobody a reason to add anything. Here is how to reward the bigger order.

Do Your Members Spend More?

Two numbers from your Dashboard: the average order of your loyalty members, and of everyone else. The gap is what your program adds to every visit.

Both numbers sit side by side in the Finance section of your Dashboard. A rough guide, not an industry benchmark.

Why orders stay small

Four Reasons Customers Stop at One Item

People add to an order when it clearly gets them somewhere. Most loyalty cards never say where.

On a stamp-per-visit card, a coffee and a full lunch earn one stamp each. There is simply no reason to add the croissant.

The fix: earn on spend. Stamp cards can give a stamp per amount spent, reward cards points per amount, and cashback cards a percentage of every purchase.

One big reward at 150 points is a distant promise. A small one within reach turns “maybe next time” into “let me add that”.

The fix: a reward ladder. A reward card can hold as many rewards as you like, each at its own points level — put the first one close.

How reward cards work →

Someone who spends $300 a month earns at the same rate as someone who spends $30. Nothing tells them that spending with you adds up.

The fix: spend tiers. Cashback and discount cards can have up to six levels, reached by total spend across visits. On a reward card, a reward can be kept for chosen segments only.

How cashback cards work →

The customer has no idea they are one cookie away from another stamp, and nobody tells them.

The fix: one line for staff at the till, and a Workflow Builder push when a customer’s points reach a set level.

Average spend questions

What Owners Ask Us

Not if the step is right. Set it at or just under your cheapest common order, so a single coffee still earns — and a second item earns again. Set it too high and one-item customers earn nothing, which is worse than a stamp per visit.
Stamps are the easiest to understand and suit a short menu. Points suit orders that vary a lot, because the ladder can hold several rewards. Cashback suits higher tickets and shops, where a percentage back feels real; when a customer pays with cashback, staff enter two amounts in the Scanner App.
You set up to six levels, each with a name, the total spend to reach it and a percentage. Spend counts across visits, not in a single purchase. The purchase that crosses the line still earns the old rate; the new rate starts with the next one.
Yes. On a reward card, each reward can be limited to chosen customer segments, or hidden from some. A reward only your top segment can see is a good reason to stay in it.
If you want proof rather than a hunch. It is on the Business plan, and the Dashboard reports the lift in revenue per client between the customers it messages and a control group it leaves alone.
